At NUE Hoops (now registered as Ocean Acres Ltd Trading as NUE Hoops) we take privacy and confidentiality seriously. We are the data controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998 and subsequent General Data Protection Regulation update in 2018.

Summary

We use your personal information to enable us to successfully run our business. Our core activities are sourcing and selling jewellery, our mission is to bring fun and creativity to our customers by giving them the freedom to experiment with and wear our jewellery on their own terms in their own style. 
We take a fair and common sense approach to collecting, storing and sharing data: 
  • The majority of personal information that we gather and store is voluntarily shared by you with us.
  • We will never sell or rent your information to anyone. 
  • We take security seriously and ensure adequate safeguards are in place to protect your data including 2 Factor Authentication on areas where we store data.
  • We will state up-front how we will use the information you share with us in the case of it not being obviously vital to our transaction with you
  • If any of our systems have a data breach that affects your data we will inform you as soon as we have details to be able to inform you properly about the breach. 
As part of our business activities, we contact customers, friends, business contacts and other groups about our activities, events, product launches, product offerings and more. 
Should you tell us you don't want to be invited to events or receive marketing communications you can unsubscribe from our database at any time by using the unsubscribe function or emailing: jess@nuehoops.com. 

You cannot unsubscribe from purchase confirmation emails or emails relating to the delivery of your purchase as these are classed as 'transactional communications'. 

WHAT INFORMATION IS BEING COLLECTED?
The main types of information we collect are as follows: 

 
Personal information:
We collect, use and store the following contact information: 
Your name, email address, billing address, delivery address and mobile number when you share this information with us.
We may collect and store your social media contact information such as your TikTok, Instagram or Twitter handle if we wish to follow you on these or other social channels. 
We may collect your birthday and other information to help personalise your experience during interactions with us. 

We may occasionally collect other forms of data or information on you not listed above. All the information we collect on you will either be publicly available or knowingly submitted by you to us.

WHO IS COLLECTING IT?

The NUE Hoops team (employees of NUE Hoops) are most likely to collect data from and about you. If any other person or company collects your data on our behalf we will warn you about this in advance. Examples of others who may collect or capture information about you include external research providers, photographers or videographers commissioned by us.

HOW IS IT COLLECTED?
We collect information in an open and transparent way. The vast majority of our data is voluntarily submitted by you knowingly.
Our website and cookies
Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or work more efficiently as well are to provide reporting information.

Essential Website cookie - these are strictly necessary to provide you with services available through our website and to use some of its features.
Performance and Functionality cookies - these are used to enhance the performance and functionality of our website but are non-essential.
Analytics, Targeting and Advertising Cookies - these are used to help us understand how our website is being used, how effective our marketing campaigns are or to customise the website or advertising messages to make them more relevant to you.

Other platforms

Any information captured by you interacting with any platforms we provide you access to (for example our website or any of our social channels) is used to improve our operations and communications. All platforms we use provide standard analytics features which we use to help us improve our services and your experience interacting with us. Most of these metrics are anonymised and are designed to help us improve the service, not find out specific information about individuals.

We use a variety of platforms to help us collect, store and manage our data. The following platforms and third parties are core to our data management:

Facebook 

In order to maximize the effectiveness of our Facebook and Instagram ads, we share data with Facebook through the Facebook Conversions API when you make an order online. This is to ensure we can avoid targeting you with ads right after you purchase and also to track the effectiveness of our ads. 

We may occasionally use other platforms not listed above. Prior to using any external products, platforms or systems we carry out due diligence on third-party security and data policy and protection. When using a third party not on the list above we will only notify you if it is relevant and sensible to do so. All our third-party data storage systems are password protected and as a general rule only accessible by the NUE Hoops team or contractors working on behalf of NUE Hoops who are contractually obliged to protect our data. 

The above companies may collect personal information when you interact with our digital property, including IP addresses, digital identifiers, information about your web browsing and app usage and how you interact with our properties and ads for a variety of purposes, such as personalization of offers or advertisements, analytics about how you engage with websites or ads and other commercial purposes. 
WHY IS IT BEING COLLECTED?
We collect information to successfully run the organisation and activities we operate on a day-to-day basis. All the information we collect plays a legitimate role in our operations.
 
HOW WILL IT BE USED?
To be able to communicate effectively with you and run our business operations, specifically: 
  • To record transactional information about a purchase or purchase behaviour 
  • To send you SMS marketing to notify you that we're having a sale (note carrier charges can apply). 
  • To send you email marketing communications about new products, sales, events or collaborations 
  • To support our business operations including our external and internal communications, finance, operations and business strategy.
 
WHO WILL IT BE SHARED WITH?

Your personal information (e.g. contact information, billing information etc.) will never be shared with anyone outside of the NUE Hoops team. If there is a reason why we need to share your information outside the team, we will do so with your explicit consent, unless we are required by law not to do so. 

Media collection, usage and sharing  
If you post photographs of yourself wearing our product, or talk about our product, packaging or anything related to our company and we want to share this information publicly or within a relevant business context, if it is already in the public domain we will not ask your permission before using it or reposting it on our own social channels or website. If you have entered into a contractual relationship with us during the posting of said media, we will act in accordance with the contract agreed.  
Photographs and films may be captured during our events and other face-to-face interactions. This is usually for external marketing purposes. We reserve the right to use footage as we see fit unless you have stated beforehand that you do not want to be filmed or photographed. Where reasonable and sensible we will contact you in advance of pictures or film being used publicly if you have explicitly asked not to be in them. 

If you wish not to or cannot be photographed or filmed it is your responsibility to tell us during any interactions we may have with you. We will then ensure we do not photograph or film you. If by accident you are captured we will strive to ensure film or photographs are used in accordance with your preferences – for example, removal and non-use of footage. 

Third parties
We will not disclose information to third parties except as required by law. We may share information with service providers or suppliers if the disclosure will enable that party to perform a business, or provide professional or technical support to NUE Hoops.
We ask in particular that anyone we work with handle and treat information that they encounter with the utmost care and respect and are compliant with the 2018 GDPR legislation. 
 
WHAT IS THE EFFECT OF SHARING INFORMATION ON ME?
We take a sensible approach to what is shared and with whom. When posting images generated by you in relation to our business or product we will always ask your permission first. If  we share images of yours or you on our social media channels you will be recognised publicly as a customer or someone who is interested in our company.
We understand that the mishandling of any information deemed sensitive or otherwise compromising can have a significant impact on you as an individual so, we will always treat your information with care.

We will never sell or rent information you have given us or that we have collected about you. 

IS THE INTENDED USE LIKELY TO CAUSE ME TO OBJECT OR COMPLAIN?
We do not believe that the way we share or use information is likely to cause you to object or complain. However, we are reliant on you to tell us if you do not feel comfortable with the information you are being asked to share or to challenge us on how it will be used or has been used. 
We use utmost discretion when deciding what information will be shared, when and with whom. We never share sensitive or confidential information with anyone outside of the NUE Hoops team. 
Under our current operations, we have had no complaints to date about how we collect, store, handle or share information. We work closely with everyone we interact with to ensure that privacy needs are met for all. 
 
Third Parties

In the case where third parties used by us mishandle your data we will act swiftly to remediate the situation. We will always contact you to let you know if your data has been mishandled or compromised. In cases where there is gross negligence we will terminate our relationship with that third party. 

Unsubscribing

You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by unsubscribing from individual emails or emailing jess@nuehoops.com. If you have a complaint, you can contact anyone in the team on info.nuehoops.com and we will treat the matter seriously.

You can unsubscribe from SMS marketing by replying STOP. Carrier charges may apply if you agree to SMS marketing. 

Deleting your data
If you wish for a social media post, image or other collateral which is associated with you and appears on one of our channels to be deleted please email jess@nuehoops.com and we will delete it within 24 hours. 

If you want us to remove your data entirely from our systems please email jess@nuehoops.com and she will process your request.

Security

We’re a small team with a light technical infrastructure. We take care to ensure we are using best practice when it comes to security and putting adequate password protection and safeguards into place including 2 Factor Authentication on systems we use if it is offered. 

Data breaches
If any of our systems have a data breach or there is a data leak of any sort that concerns your data we will inform you as soon as possible by email and take the necessary steps we can to remedy the breach.
